Takuma Anzai was born and raised in Fukushima Japan. He took his first piano lesson at 7 years old. He did not know that music would be a part of his life at that time. When he was 11 years old, his brother started to play drums and bought drum sets. So, he started to play drums like he was playing with drums. Even though his neighbors hated it... He took music seriously, since he was around 14 years old. Since he was 16 years old, he has joined a lot of bands and played at verious bars, clubs, and weddings around Fukushima area. All he wanted to be a professional ROCK drummer. At age of 18, he noticed that he did not know music but rock, and he became to want to learn more various types of music and their drumming. He enrolled at Berklee College of Music in performance major in January, 2004. He took his first drum lesson at Berklee with Jon Hazilla for a year, and now, he is studying with Dave DiCenso and Mark Walker. In the bigginig of 2005, He has started a band called Spice Works with Yuki Kanesaka and Marcus Rezas. Once they appeared on New Music Festival at Berklee Performance Center. Their powerful and musical performance could get great responses from whole lot of people. Now, he has been studying and playing Rock, Funk, Jazz, Fusion, Blues, Country R&B, Hip-Hop, Brazilian, and Afro-Cuban music with many talented and such wonderful musicians. |
